Competition Rules
- The competition is open to all home brewers of the Known World.
- Alcoholic items can only be entered by brewers 21 years of age or over.
- Non-alcohol items can be entered by brewers of all ages.
- All entries must be made on a home brewing system.
- You may enter up to 6 entries total, with no more than 2 entries per division. For a complete list of cores and divisions, please see the Cores and Divisions webpage
- Submit the following number of bottles per entry. Larger sizes or more bottles will be accepted.
- For wines / meads submit 1 750ml bottle or 2 500ml bottles.
- For beer submit at least 2 12oz bottles or 1 22oz bottle.
- For all others submit 2 12oz bottles.
- All entries must be listed on the Entry Form.
- Use the Cores and Divisions webpage to classify your entry correctly.
- A fee of $5.00 will be due for each entry. Payment is due when bottles are delivered Saturday morning (see #10 below). Payments may be cash or credit card. No checks will be accepted.
- Documentation is 15% of your score. It should include at least your recipe and log notes. The minimum documentation is a label of your design on your bottle(s).
- If the judges should know about special ingredients, such as specific herbs used in an herb beer, they should be specified on your label and / or your documentation.
- Delivery of entries: Entries must be delivered and fees paid between the hours of 7am and 9:30am the day of the contest in the Arts & Sciences area.
- Pickup of entries: Entries and judging forms may be picked up between the hours of 8pm and 10pm, that same day, at The Taste of Great Western War, in the Dining Pavilion in Merchant’s Row.
- Winners will be announced at The Taste of Great Western War at 8pm on Saturday. The Right Noble Brewers Guild will make reasonable attempts to hand over any bottles (empty or otherwise), documentation, and judging sheets to the brewer at The Taste of Great Western War at 8 pm Saturday. If the brewer cannot pick up their entries, they may send a representative, who is over 21 years of age (Photo ID with proof of age required), and their entry receipt. Any bottles and paperwork not picked up will be disposed of.
- All deadlines are final and absolute. There will be no exceptions made.
- Any unsafe bottling, capping or closure conditions may cause disqualification at judge’s discretion.
- Anything deemed unsafe to consume, either ingredients, conditions of bottles, or brewing techniques may cause disqualification at judge’s discretion.
- No home distilled beverages will be accepted.
- Any interfering with judges or judging staff may cause disqualification at judge’s discretion
All decisions of the judges and competition organizer are final.
